Goodlife’s Meat Free Monday

Meat Free Monday’s was originally an Australian movement who wanted to raise awareness of the benefits of having a vegetarian diet can make to the planet.

They claim that a vegetarian diet can end world hunger due to livestock production’s inefficient use of water, grain, and soy thus causing water/food shortages. Prevent: deforestation, soil degradation, air and water pollution and effectively climate change. Finally they state that a vegetarian diet could dramatically reduce health care costs

The town of Ghent in Belgium have also made headline news in supporting the cause. Government officials in Ghent have recognised the importance of promoting vegetarianism as a solution to addressing climate change and have declared a “veggie” only day - every week!

Goodlife’s site, www.meatfreemondays.co.uk focuses on sharing ways of HOW to have one day a week free of meat for people who are not so familiar with the idea of a vegetarian diet. The site offers recipes, twists on ready meals for the less confident cook, restaurant recommendations and a chance for visitors to have their say and leave recipes and tips.
